Workshop C : How Not To Get Cut Negotiating the Glass Ceiling

with Dr.Mary-Beth Cooper, V.P. Student Affairs, Rochester Institute of Technology
Catalyst, a leading research and advisory organization focused on expanding opportunities  for women at work, suggests that (1) a high competence threshold exists for women- women leaders face higher standards and lower rewards than men leaders; (2) women leaders are perceived as competent or likable, but rarely both and; (3) extreme perceptions exist for women leaders that they are either too soft, too tough, and never just right.  This session will focus on these findings and discuss strategies for individuals and organizations to assist women leaders in navigating the path to success and not getting hurt by breaking the glass ceiling.
